Plain-language summary

  • No data collection. The app never collects or sends personal information or child activity, and we never sell data.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how Their First Words LLC, a California limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information in connection with the Their First Counting mobile and web application (the "App").

2. Information the App handles

Information automatically collected or transmitted

None. The App does not collect or transmit personal information, usage events, device identifiers, diagnostics, or child activity. It has no account system, analytics, telemetry, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting service, cloud database, cloud sync, purchase service, or push notifications. The installed App makes no network requests of its own.

Information stored on the device

The App stores two preferences: your chosen language (including the Korean counting system) and the last number you selected, from 1 to 100. These let the App reopen at that number in your chosen language. They stay in the App's own storage on the device (in the web version, in your browser's local storage). The App never sends either preference anywhere.

The App does not save names, profiles, counted objects, progress, completion, scores, or activity history. The scene and counted objects are temporary session state. Reopening at the last selected number starts a fresh count; it does not restore a completed or partly completed activity.

Permissions and information not requested

The App does not request access to the camera, microphone, photos, contacts, location, health information, or advertising identifier. It plays its own bundled spoken numbers through the device's normal audio output and does not record.

3. The web version

Their First Counting can also run in a web browser. If you use it that way:

  • Hosting request logs. When your browser loads the App from our website, the website's hosting provider receives the standard information that any web request includes, such as IP address, browser type, the page or file requested, and the time. The host may keep this in request logs to deliver and secure the site. The App adds no information about your child to these requests. We never use these logs to identify a child or family, and the web version runs no analytics or advertising.
  • Browser storage and offline cache. Your browser stores the App's files and artwork, and each spoken number the first time it plays, so the App and previously heard numbers keep working offline. It also stores the two preferences described above. This stays in your browser; the App does not send it to us. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.

4. The adult-only links

A two-second press-and-hold gate protects the App's grown-ups area. Behind it, four links open outside the App in your device's browser or app store:

There is no other link out of the App. The App adds no identifier, analytics parameter, referral code, or affiliate code to these links. Once a link opens, your browser or app store and your network provider operate under their own privacy terms.

5. Support communications

If an adult emails us, we receive only what they choose to provide, such as their email address, message, and attachments. The App does not automatically attach child activity, identifiers, diagnostics, or device records. We use support communications only to answer the request, troubleshoot, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Please do not include a child's personal information.

6. Sharing, selling, and retention

We do not sell personal information. We do not share child activity, because the App never sends it to us. We do not use advertising networks, analytics providers, attribution providers, data brokers, or session-replay services.

An adult's support email may be processed by the email providers needed to deliver and store it. We keep support communications only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, keep an appropriate support record, protect the service, or meet legal requirements. Website request logs are kept by the hosting provider under its own retention practices.

7. App-store statistics

Apple and Google may provide developers with aggregated store information, such as total downloads or crash counts, under their own platform terms. The App adds no tracking to create those statistics, and we do not use them to identify a child or family.

8. Children's privacy

Their First Counting is designed for young children, with support and the external link reserved for adults. The App does not collect personal information from children. A child does not create an account, enter personal details, communicate with us, or open an external link from child play. Because the App collects no personal information from children, there is nothing that calls for parental consent. The two-second hold simply keeps the grown-ups area, with its website and support links, for adults.

9. Your choices and rights

There is no App account, cloud profile, or saved activity to delete or export. To change the saved preferences, choose another language or number in the App. To remove them, uninstall the App, or clear the site's data in your browser for the web version.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information you voluntarily sent in a support message. Contact privacy@theirfirstwords.org. We may need to verify that the request concerns your own communication.

10. Security and international users

The best protection for your child's information is not collecting it, so the App never collects or sends child activity. If an adult contacts support from outside the United States, their message may be processed in the United States or wherever our email services operate. As with any email, no method of electronic communication is completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App or legal requirements change, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. If a future change materially alters how information is handled, we will provide notice appropriate to the change and obtain consent when legally required.
