Website Privacy Notice

This notice explains how theirfirstwords.org, a website operated by Their First Words LLC, handles information. It is separate from the Their First Words app Privacy Policy, which covers the mobile app and its child-focused features.

1. The short version

  • The website does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Pinterest Tag, advertising cookies, or behavioral trackers.
  • Their First Words does not collect a child’s name, age, learning activity, or other child data on this website.
  • Public links may use non-identifying UTM labels such as utm_source=pinterest. These are ordinary URL text, not tracking code.

2. Essential website operation

Our hosting provider processes each request your browser makes for a page or file. A request can include the requested URL, time, IP address, browser or device information, and referrer. We use this processing only to deliver, secure, and maintain the site. See Google’s Privacy Policy for information about Firebase Hosting.

Numbers, Patterns and Puzzles in your browser

These three browser apps need no account. They save progress and preferences in this browser when storage is available; they do not upload those records to us or synchronize them between devices. Each app’s reset clears its own progress. Clearing site data or browser eviction may remove saved records, so browser storage is not a backup.

The apps download their code, artwork, fonts and audio from this website as needed. Those file requests use the hosting described above. Patterns may also cache previously loaded files for reuse; it does not download every activity in the background. The browser versions use direct Settings links. References to fully offline operation and a grown-up hold gate in their mobile policies apply to the installed mobile apps.

UTM parameters are short labels added to a public link, such as utm_source=pinterest. They can identify where a link was published, but they do not execute code, set cookies, or identify a visitor by themselves. Our rules prohibit putting a person’s name, email address, child information, or other sensitive information in a UTM label.

4. Optional tips

Our optional tip pages and tip links lead to checkout hosted by Stripe. If you choose to leave a tip, Stripe handles your payment and the contact details you enter under Stripe’s Privacy Policy. Card details are entered on Stripe, not on this website. We can access payment records in Stripe to administer tips and refunds.

Tips are one-time and optional. They do not create an app account, unlock content, or subscribe you to a mailing list. ABCs, Counting, Maps, Reading, Art, Conversations, Numbers, Patterns, Puzzles, Typing and Bus remain completely free whether you tip or not.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

To ask a privacy question or exercise a right, email privacy@theirfirstwords.org. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Changes

If this notice changes materially, we will update the effective date.
