Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. All 142 lessons, every sound and every word are in the app. There are no ads, purchases or subscriptions.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in. The only name the app keeps is the one you type for your child’s book.
How do we use it together?
Sit side by side. The left page is yours: it tells you what to do and say, and ▶ plays the sound first. The right page is your child’s: tap a letter or the dot under it to hear its sound, and the speaker to hear the word. The arrows turn the page.
Where should my child start?
Lesson 1 starts with m. A child who already knows some letter sounds can start further on: tap Contents on the cover and open any lesson. Continue opens the lesson after the furthest one finished.
Can my child practice alone?
Yes. When there is practice your child has already been taught, the cover shows a Practice button. A voice gives every instruction, so your child doesn’t need to read them.
We have more than one child.
Tap Contents. Under Children, tap a name to switch books. Manage children adds or removes one.
Where is progress saved?
Only on your device, or in your browser on the web. Nothing is sent anywhere, so progress doesn’t move to a new device. Removing a child or Reset app deletes it, and so does deleting the app or clearing your browser’s data.
In Safari, the web version’s progress can be cleared if you go a week or more without opening it. The free app keeps it on the device.
I can’t hear the voice.
Turn up the device’s volume and check whether sound is going to headphones or a speaker. On iPhone and iPad, the app plays even with the silent switch on.
Does it work offline?
The app on iPhone, iPad and Android works fully offline: every lesson and sound is included. The web version needs an internet connection.
How do we start over?
To repeat a lesson, open it from Contents. To delete everything, tap Contents, then Manage children, then Reset app.
