Getting started
Is Their First Typing free?
Yes. The typing lessons and practice sets are free and ad-free. You can begin without making an account or entering payment information. Open the English course, or choose another course below.
Which languages can I practice?
There are nine typing courses: Korean, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, German, Italian and Tagalog. Guidance is in English. The exercises teach typing in the selected language, starting with keys before moving to words and phrases.
Do I need a physical keyboard?
The course is designed primarily for a computer with a physical keyboard. Its on-screen keyboard shows where to press, and some language courses provide character buttons or setup guidance for accents and other scripts. A wider screen gives the exercise room it needs.
Do I need to know the language already?
No previous typing experience is needed. Lessons introduce keys before asking you to type words and phrases. English guidance helps you follow the typing exercises; the course is focused on typing practice rather than complete language instruction.
Progress and privacy
Do I need an account, and where is my progress saved?
No account is required. As a guest, lesson progress is saved in this browser on this device. Optional email sign-in can save progress to an account for use across devices. Clearing this browser’s local data can remove guest progress, so sign in before doing that if you want to keep it. Read the privacy summary for more detail.
Can several learners use the same computer?
They can open the course without creating accounts, but guest progress belongs to the browser profile, not to a named learner. On a shared computer, separate browser profiles keep guest histories apart. Optional verified email accounts can save progress across devices. Can I practice without sound?
Yes. Selected exercises include recorded audio, but every activity can be completed silently. The keyboard guides and written prompts remain available.
