Picture hunt sheet

Twelve real pictures from the Art wall of Their First Art, each with one thing to find: a hare, the cats, a big wave, something red. Hunt for them in the app, then for the same things in picture books, on your own walls, or in a museum. It goes with the parent guide A picture hunt.

How to use it

  1. Print the two sheets. Sheet 1 is the hunt; sheet 2 has three things to say and the name and maker of every picture.
  2. Open Their First Art on the Art wall, or take the sheet into a room with pictures: a library, a museum, your own walls.
  3. Read one line aloud, like “Find the cats.” Look for that picture, or for the thing in it: a cat on a book cover counts too.
  4. When your child finds it, they tick the box. A dot or a scribble is a fine tick.
  5. Talk about it for a moment, then stop while it is still a game. Twelve pictures can last many days.

Who made them

For the grown-up

Three things to say

What can you see?

Where is the hare? Can you point?

The Great Wave. Hokusai made it.

Say the picture’s name, then who made it, the way the app does and a museum label does. Any answer is a good one, even “dog” for a fox.
