- Their First Words LLC
- One-liner
- A calm, parent-led flashcard app for first words and first phrases, in eight languages.
- Category
- Education, on both the App Store and Google Play.
- Price

- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad, Android
- Languages
- 8 — English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Korean, Russian. Card text and audio carry the selected language; the parent-facing chrome stays English.
- Voices
- Two voices per language, one female and one male, native to that language, speaking every card in both libraries. Native to each language, produced with a professional studio-grade speech service rather than recorded in a booth; every clip is screened by machine, then listened to by a person before it ships. 24,752 clips ship inside the app — public copy says “24,000+”.
- Words
- 1,021 illustrated words in 16 categories, across three age stages.
- Phrases
- 526 everyday phrases in 9 themes.
- Free tier
- 75 words and 35 phrases, free forever — all 8 languages and both voices included. The 75 are 25 distinct words per age stage, so a child sees a set built for their stage.
- Ages
- 0–5, in three parent-chosen stages: First Words (0–24 months), Growing Words (2–3 years), Word Builder (3–5 years). Phrases are not split by stage.
- Offline
- Works fully offline. Every illustration and every voice clip ships inside the app; nothing streams and nothing downloads later.
- Ads
- None, anywhere, at any tier.
- Account
- Not required, and there is no sign-up wall. The first run asks how old your child is, then opens the cards. Signing in is optional and syncs progress across devices. Up to 4 child profiles.

Quotable
Factual lines about the product, safe to quote as written.
- “Every card is illustrated, and every card is spoken by a female and a male native voice.”
- “75 words and 35 phrases are free forever, in all eight languages, with both voices.”
- “One $9.99 purchase unlocks the rest. There is no subscription, and nothing renews.”
- “The app works fully offline. Every picture and every clip is already inside it.”
- “Auto Play is off by default, and a session ends when the cards run out.”
- “The app does not teach a child by itself. It gives the parent the words to say, in a language they may not speak.”
That last line is the design, not a disclaimer. In 2003 Patricia Kuhl showed that nine-month-olds picked up the sounds of a new language from a live person in the room, and learned nothing measurable from the same material on video or audio alone (Kuhl, Tsao & Liu, PNAS, 2003). So the app is built to put a word in a parent’s mouth and a picture in front of a child — not to hold the child’s attention on its own.
From the makers — already published on the home page
“We are parents first. When our daughter began saying her first words, the cuteness and magic changed our lives.
We built this app to support her journey, so she could see the words, hear the words, and say the words. In all the languages that she may want to learn.
We hope your children enjoy it too.”
