How to use them

Paper first, then the app.

  • Print on card stock if you have it, Letter or A4, portrait. Plain paper works; glue it to cereal-box cardboard for a toddler-proof card.
  • Cut on the dashed lines. Four cards a sheet — 30 sheets in all.
  • Start with five or six cards. The words your family says every day — milk, dog, mama — not the whole deck. Keep them where the moment happens: the highchair, the door, the bath.
  • Name what your child is looking at. A card is a picture book with one page, not a quiz. Five rules, and the research behind them.
