Common questions
Is the plugin free?
Yes. It has no account, no sign-in, no subscription and nothing to buy. Everything it offers works inside the conversation.
Is the plugin the same as the Their First Words app?
No. They share a name and the same pictures and recordings, but they are separate. The app is for a child to use on a phone or tablet; the plugin is for an adult preparing an activity in ChatGPT. Using one does not require or unlock the other.
How do I add it?
Open Their First Words in the ChatGPT plugin directory and add it, or search for it under Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar. The plugin page has the steps and three things to try.
A picture or a recording will not load.
Picture and recording links expire after about an hour. Ask ChatGPT for the cards again and it will fetch fresh ones.
My print link stopped working.
A print link works for 24 hours. Ask for the printable again to get a new one; nothing was lost, because nothing is stored.
How many cards can I get at once?
A search shows up to 24 cards, and a printable holds up to 40. Searches always need a theme, a filter or a few words to look for; the plugin never lists the whole library.
Which languages does it cover?
Word and phrase cards come in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Korean and Russian, each with a picture and a recording in a female and a male voice. Place stories come in 11 languages; conversation lines in English, Spanish and Korean.
Can my child use it?
The plugin is for adults preparing activities. It does not talk with, quiz or teach a child; you choose the cards here, then use them with your child or your class.
What does the plugin keep about me?
Nothing. There is no account and no profile, and the server keeps no record of what you searched, chose or printed. The privacy notice has the details.
