Their First Puzzles

A look inside the app

Four ways to play with animals

These are screens from the four activity families in Their First Puzzles. Each asks for one simple action, then lets a child explore at their own pace.

The five playable worlds are Ocean, Forest, Desert, Savanna, and Jungle. Every world contains animal puzzles, and all of them are open from the start. The screens below show examples from Ocean and Forest, not a complete list of boards.

Activity 1

Discover

A child looks around a scene and taps a creature partly tucked into its surroundings. In this Ocean example, an orange fish peeks through the plants.

  • Action: find and tap a hidden friend.
  • Try saying: “What do you notice behind the seaweed?”

Activity 2

Bring home

A child moves a large animal to its matching place. Some boards match an animal to its shape; others bring a baby to its grown-up. This screen shows an orange fish below its matching space.

  • Action: drag the animal toward the matching shape or family member.
  • Try saying: “Where could this fish go?”

Activity 3

Build

A child puts two or three large pieces together to make an animal. In this Ocean example, the crab’s claws, body, and legs wait below the crab-shaped space.

  • Action: move each piece onto the animal outline.
  • Try saying: “Which piece has the claws?”

Activity 4

Sort

A child groups four large creatures with the places or families where they belong. This Forest screen has two rabbits and two foxes, with a matching space for each group.

  • Action: place each animal with its group.
  • Try saying: “Can you find a home for both rabbits?”

Keep the conversation going offline

Print the animal cards and invite your child to place the creatures in their five worlds. Use a few cards at a time, talk about what you see, and let the child change their mind.
